Day One: Arrival to Montserrat via air from neighboring Antigua, St. Maarten, or Guadeloupe. [Antigua also offers ferry service to Montserrat].

After clearing Customs & Immigration, you will be met by your host who will accompany you to your villa. You will be driven to your villa by one of our contracted cab drivers. A scenic drive along the Island's north-west coast will take you to one of MIA's holiday villas which will serve as your home base for the period of your stay. A lightly stocked refrigerator, pantry, and bar await your arrival. Pour yourself a refreshing beverage and take a dip in the pool...you have arrived in paradise!

On your first evening, you will enjoy special cocktails & appetizers prepared for your welcome. Dinner will feature Island recipes prepared by a native Montserratian chef.

Day Two: After your breakfast, you will go over the Adventure Itinerary. Your group will be driven to the north end of the Island for an exciting down-wind guided paddleboard and/or kayak tour from Carr's Bay to Old Road Bay.

This four mile tour along Montserrat's pristine leeward coast will leave you breathless. We will explore the beautiful coastline from the unique vantage point of a SUP board or kayak, taking lots of pictures along the way. We will supply you with waterproof digital cameras during your stay with us. As we get closer to Woodlands beach, we may encounter seahorses.

The SUP tour includes an instructional component, making it suitable for first-time paddlers, or you may choose to use the very user friendly ocean kayak. After working up an appetite from your SUP tour, we'll point out the village of Salem where you can grab lunch at one of Montserrat's many local eateries. For a tiny speck of an island, Montserrat offers 15 or so places to eat!  After lunch, we will drive to the Montserrat Volcano Observatory for a fascinating look at the Volcano and an interesting history on its eruptions.

We will return to the Villa in the late afternoon with enough time for a dip in the warm Caribbean Sea or the pool.

Following your first day of adventures, you will no doubt be ready for bed by 9 o'clock.

Day Three:  We will embark on an exciting mountain bike excursion along Montserrat's verdant interior. Our fleet of electric mountain bikes are a delight to ride, providing the rider with a nice assist during hill climbs. Following the Volcano's eruptions, mountain bike riding on Montserrat is better than ever with lots of uncharted terrain to explore.

Enjoy the rest of the afternoon swimming, snorkeling, and paddle-boarding around Old Road Bay & Isles Bay. In the evening explore one of the neighboring villages for a bit of night-life.

Day Four: We will hike along the Island's network of foot-paths, utilized by Montserrat's kids and farmers for generations. A native Montserratian will act as our hiking guide, sharing his knowledge of indigenous flora & fauna. After words relax by the pool, or take a nap beneath the ceiling fans.

Day Five: Off for a morning of sightseeing and shopping along the Island's commercial center in the north. Popping in & out of some of Montserrat's shops you will enjoy meeting and chatting with the shop-keepers and sampling some local hospitality.  You'll pick up some of the islands fruits at the various road-side fruit stands. Most of the produce is imported, but you can get some great local produce including apple banana, mangos, 'sugar apples', ginup, papaya, and the best avocado ever!

After lunch at a restaurant, you will continue our sightseeing tour to view the pyroclastic flows along the Island's windward coast.

On the return, we will enjoy some time at beautiful Woodland's Beach for an afternoon of swimming, snorkeling, and lounging in the sun. After your dinner, you can visit the nearby village of Salem for a 'pub crawl'.

Day Six: A tour of the Lost City of Plymouth by one of our certified tour operators.  This was the Island's former capital and center of commerce. The entire town was buried by pyroclastic flows during the Volcano's many eruptions from 1996-2010. A stop for lunch and then we'll head to beautiful Foxes Bay for an afternoon of swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing.

Following dinner, have a 'Game Night', featuring Montserrat's local favorite, Dominoes.

Day Seven: In the morning we will tour around some of Montserrat's lovely villas, some of which are available for sale. Though still off the beaten path, Montserrat is a popular retirement destination for Canadians, British, and Americans.

Though real estate values have increased over the past few years, there are still bargains to be had on this amazing island paradise.

Following lunch we will head out for an afternoon of sightseeing in the hills of Waterworks Estate. One of the points of interest will be a stop at the former Air Studios Montserrat. Founded by Sir George Martin, Air Studios was host to some of the most legendary recording artists of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Luminaries such as Sir Elton John, Sting, Dire Straits, and Sir Paul McCartney recorded albums at this world-class facility.

The afternoon will be yours to explore the Island at your leisure.

Day Eight: Today we set-off on mountain bikes for another amazing ride along the some of the Island's scenic roads and trails. On the return, we will have lunch at one of the village eateries and return to the Villa for an afternoon at the beach or pool.

In the afternoon, a photo work-shop will be led by your host [Carrll] who also happens to be a professional photographer. Topics of instruction will include composition, lighting, and camera settings. We will scout one of the Island's top locations for a clinic in landscape photography and we will then do group and individual portraits to take home as souvenirs.

Day Nine: Following breakfast, we will set out on a final day of adventure with another SUP and/or kayak tour, mountain bike ride, and more sight-seeing.

Snorkeling in the afternoon will be followed by a farewell  poolside barbeque prepared by our expert chef. We will then celebrate your time on the Emerald Isle with drinks at some of the Island's pubs.

Day Ten: Depending on each individual's departure time, there may be time for a swim or SUP paddle after breakfast. You will of course have the option to simply relax and soak in that last bit of Montserrat's tranquility before heading to the airport for your flight home.

Electric Mountain Biking

Take on the tropical trails with us at a less strenuous pace-electrified! No need to over do it, our bikes are designed with enough power to give you a boost when you really need it, allowing you to enjoy Montserrat's magical nature more comfortably. We'll get you near the volcano buried town of Plymouth, Foxes Beach via "the road to town" passing through deserted villages. On another day we'll take a ride up to the old Air Studios (Sir George Martin's famous recording studio) and continue on one of many foot paths through mountains and jungles.  Stopping? Oh yeah, for a cold "Ting" and a sand-witch at Salem, followed by a dip at Isle's Bay.

Kayaking and Paddle-boarding

Because of its calm Caribbean sea, and dramatic sea cliffs, some of the best paddle-boarding and kayaking is had here on Montserrat.  The added bonus is that we do our tour one-way, so you can enjoy the ride rather than struggle against the wind.

Hiking

Montserrat's network of trails are plenty. Trails start in the tropical forest of Centre Hills. They may lead to Jack Boy Hill or to Rendezvous Bay, our only white sand beach A hike into Baker Hill is another trail we like to use. It should be noted that the wildlife you'll encounter is made up of globally threatened species and some free-roaming farm animals. All are non-threatening, even the snakes and tarantulas! We'll introduce you to a famous few.

The Centre Hills forest is home to a variety of globally endangered birds, reptiles and plant species. In some cases, the entire population can only be found within this small ecological system. Some species with threat to extinction include: the Montserrat Galliwasp, Montserrat Oriole, and the Mountain Chicken (a very big frog), and the Forest Thrush. Two bat species include: the White-lined Bat and the Yellow-shouldered Bat. Eight out of the nine hiking trails are found in the Centre Hills.  Be sure to bring your binoculars if you want to see the rare birds of Montserrat, including our endemic Oriole. These birds are hard to spot if you're seeking them with the naked eye.

Surfing

Whether you're a beginner or advanced, we'll get you in the waves if you wish. If you're staying during the winter months there's a good chance you'll get some perfect empty surf on the Caribbean side.

Observe the Volcano

From the Montserrat Volcano Observatory, not only will you have the best view of the mountain, but learn much about what makes it tick.

With high-tech scientific instruments, MVO monitors the volcano daily. Soufriere Hills is currently the only and longest-active volcano in the Caribbean. It offers insights in its subtle alteration of daily lives, crops, wildlife, and physical landscape.

The deserted town of Plymouth is a big attraction – the only volcanic-buried town in the Americas. This ghost town feels eerie quiet, with the absence of animals and birds. Most deeply affecting are the belongings left behind:  homes, aging toys, cradles, books, clothing, typewriters, stationery and invoices.

A great vantage point is from Jack Boy Hill.  You'll enjoy panoramic views of the volcano, the hidden town of Trants, including what remains of the island’s old airport, and the Atlantic Ocean. Here the landscape is at its harshest, a telescope will allow you to look up close.

Other activities we'll be happy to book you for:

Scuba Diving

Be prepared to anticipate close encounters stingrays, eagle rays, tropical fish, and barracuda. Parrotfish will add to the visual wonder

of Montserrat's reefs, which protect several colonies of the critically endangered and vulnerable listed corals. There are currently over 10 species of corals as well as diverse sponges, fish life and marine creatures.

The Montserrat National Trust’s Botanical Garden
